The Wyandotte Tribe of Oklahoma has purchased a Tulsa-based proprietary school with six locations in five states.
Collegiate Systems Inc. operates Metropolitan College of Legal Studies, which trains court reporters, paralegals and medical transcriptionists. Its headquarters are at 4528 S. Sheridan Road.
Leaford Bearskin, chief of the Wyandotte Tribe, said Friday's closing included a smoking ceremony.
"We're always looking for economic development programs to provide money so that we don't have to depend on federal programs to run our tribe," he said.
Besides the Tulsa site, Collegiate Systems operates schools in Oklahoma
City, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Kansas City, and Melbourne, Fla.
