To all

Near the end of this year , I would like to wish to all an Happy new year in our wendat language " SATRASKWIIO TI YADE'NONSHRETSI' ". I wish a long life to the wendat newsletter. I think, it is a very good way to get in touch each other. And perhaps get all one mind, someday. I would like to offer this prayer from Noel Knockwood (Micmac)

ALL MY RELATIONS

Grandfather, Grandmother, God, The Great Spirit, You are the ultimate Force that created this Universe and all live within. You have created all the birds, animals, fish and humankind. For all of these precious gifts we are grateful. Because You have created all things animate and inanimate, part of Your Spirit is in everything.

To all of my relatives who fly in the air, I acknowledge and respect you for we share the same air where You rule. To all of my feathered relatives, I know that our Spirits are one. To the creatures whom I cannot see, I sense Your presence in the winds. We are related because we share a common Creator.

To all of the animals who have given the ultimate sacrifice of life to the hunter and his people, we thank You. We respect Your Spirit as you are now part of us and we are part of You. I will share Your meat with all of my people so that we may sustain life. I will return Your bones to the forest so that life on and under Mother Earth will continue. Truly, we are all relatives.

In a humble manner, I ask my people not to fear You as You are a loving God, and that we take full responsability for our conduct while we are on Mother Earth. Please accept our sacred Offerings and Prayers. Our communion is in the spoken word, and our Prayers are offered with great respect and honor. These were the thoughts in the minds of our ancestors. These are the thoughts in the spirits of our people today.
