Wyandot Nation of Kansas Election results

The Wyandot Nation of Kansas held its annual meeting and elections, Oct 12 1996.

A reception to honor Chief Zane for his 40 yrs. of service was held following the meeting. Chief George Zane II, has retired from his office of Principal Chief after 40 years of service to the Wyandot Nation of Kansas and the Huron Indian Cemetery. Chief Zane thanked the council and the tribe for their years of support and hard work. Chief Zane endorsed the proposed election ticket and made a special point to thank Holly Zane, who is acting as the Wyandot Nation of Kansas' legal counsel.

The following officers were voted into office.

Chief - Janith K. English (Zane family)

Second Chief - Jim Gilliford (Garrett/Walker family)

Secretary Treasurer- Fran Davidson (Clark/ Northrup family)

Vice Chairman - Louis Armstrong (Armstrong family)

The tribal officers and the tribal body has reenforced their commitment to the preservation of the Huron Indian Cemetery from any encroachment or commercial development, and any threats to its sanctity.
